Fishing Contest Rules

YEAR ROUND: NOVEMBER 1 - OCTOBER 31.

TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED FOR THE LARGEST FISH CAUGHT IN EACH SPECIES. AWARDS ARE PRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL MEETING.

Catch and Release Program

YOU MUST TAKE TWO PICTURES OF YOUR FISH. THE FIRST PHOTO MUST SHOW YOUR FISH LYING FLAT ON A LEGITIMATE MEASURING DEVICE WITH THE FISH'S MOUTH CLOSED AND BUTTED UP TO THE END OF THE MEASURING DEVICE. THE 2ND PHOTO WILL BE A CLOSE UP PICTURE SHOWING THE TAIL LENGTH ON THE MEASURING DEVICE IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO READ THE NUMBERS ON THE MEASURING DEVICE.

CONTEST IS FOR MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING. ALL FISH MUST BE CAUGHT IN THE SURF ON ASSATEAGUE ISLAND, MD

Drawings for North Carolina Fall Fishing Tournaments -

Each year AMSA selects members to compete at fishing tournaments along the east coast. Currently AMSA competes at the following fishing tournaments.

Hatteras Village Invitational - September 10-12, 2026
Cape Hatteras Anglers Club - November 4-7, 2026

If you are a member and are in good standing, you are eligible to compete for AMSA. Information will be emailed out prior to the board meeting. At the May Board of Directors meeting, we draw the winners.

Notice: All 6 members of the team, must be AMSA members in good standing.
